Check Point has been the leader in the firewall market for 18 years and only recently entered the security appliance business in 2006. The company has aggressively grown its enterprise hardware business organically and through key acquisitions, such as the Nokia security appliance business in 2009. Today, Check Point security appliances deliver powerful turnkey systems for deploying and managing Check Point’s award-winning Software Blades to address virtually any security need for businesses of all sizes.
IDC defines firewalls as appliances that have as their primary function general-purpose filtering of networking traffic through packet filtering, stateful inspection, or proxy. UTM appliances combine at a minimum network firewalling, network intrusion detection and prevention, and gateway antivirus (AV) onto a single device, though other functions may also be included as well.
Check Point security appliances include seven models, starting at the 2200 model up to the 61000 appliance model, the fastest firewall existing today. All are designed to optimize Check Point’s Software Blade Architecture™ and support the company’s vision for 3D security, combining policies, people and enforcement for unbeatable protection. Check Point’s high-performing appliances are designed to support any combination of software blade protections, including: Firewall, VPN, Intrusion Prevention, Application Control, Mobile Access, Data Loss Prevention, Identity Awareness, URL Filtering, Anti-spam, Antivirus, Advanced Networking and Acceleration as well as Check Point’s unique Anti-Bot Software Blade. By consolidating security into a single, integrated solution, organizations of all sizes have the flexibility to customize their security infrastructure based on the precise level of protection and performance needed in any environment – today and as their businesses grow.
