Check Point Introduces GAiA™ Unified Secure Operating System With Its Latest R75.40 Software Blade Release

Latest software blade release features innovative threat prevention solution and over 100 new security features to help businesses keep their edge in security

Redwood City, CA  —  Tue, 17 Apr 2012

Check Point® Software Technologies Ltd. (Nasdaq: CHKP), the worldwide leader in securing the Internet, today announced the availability of Check Point  R75.40, the latest release for its leading Software Blade Architecture™. R75.40 features Check Point GAiA™, a unified secure platform for all Check Point appliances, open servers and virtual gateways – combining the best of Check Point legacy operating systems, IPSO for IP Series and SecurePlatform (SPLAT) for all other Check Point appliances, to help customers to further consolidate their security infrastructure and simplify their management. In addition, R75.40 focuses on prevention against modern malware with Check Point ThreatCloud AI™ , the first collaborative network to fight cybercrime, providing security intelligence to customers’ gateways and real-time defense with new Anti-Bot and Antivirus Software Blades. Announced today at the company’s Check Point Experience (CPX) event in Orlando, Florida, R75.40 includes over 100 new security features, bringing customers multiple layers of threat prevention with streamlined management and performance capabilities to help them keep their edge in security.

Security remains a top priority for businesses across the board. Organizations are faced with a significant rise in the number of security threats, many of which experience hundreds of new malware incidents per month. Companies have responded to the increase in attacks by adding more protections to their security infrastructure – a natural reaction, but not always an effective one. While most companies use more than seven different vendors to secure their network, many businesses still report lower levels of security confidence due to the IT complexities that multiple point products can create.

“To fight sophisticated, multi-vector attacks, deploying multiple standalone solutions is not sufficient. In the wake of emerging threats and new solutions, it has become critical for customers to keep security infrastructure integrated and simple,” said Gil Shwed, founder, chairman and CEO at Check Point Software Technologies. “With a 64-bit OS and a variety of cutting-edge features, GAiA enables customers to align multiple layers of security protection on a unified platform and create an integrated security blueprint.”

CHECK POINT GAiA™
With the wave of new incoming threats and protections to enforce, it has become crucial for companies to consolidate security in order to optimize security operations and efficiency with maximum performance. R75.40 introduces Check Point GAiA™ to the market – a powerful, 64-bit unified operating system delivering better security and higher efficiency than its predecessors – IPSO operating system for IP Appliances and SPLAT, the operating system for Power-1, UTM-1, IAS and 2012 Appliances. Now with Check Point GAiA, customers can benefit from a single, unified OS for all Check Point appliances, open servers and virtualized gateways.  As many enterprises and global service providers continue to make the transition to IPv6, GAiA is designed to support both IPv4 and IPv6 networks, with up to 70 million concurrent connections and a variety of dynamic routing protocols to meet the performance needs of the most demanding network environments.

GAiA’s feature-rich web interface optimizes IT operations with automated software updates that can be completed in less than a minute; provides instant search capabilities for all properties and commands; and has a command line interface that is fully compatible with IPSO and SPLAT. In addition, it helps organizations enforce granular policies and access control role-based administration – enabling companies to apply a segregation of duties among users with different job roles and privileges.

THREAT PREVENTION
Check Point ThreatCloud AI, also announced today with the release of R75.40, is the first collaborative network to fight cybercrime enabling organizations to share attack information and threat trends from multiple global sources to better and more effectively stop attacks. Check Point ThreatCloud AI gathers data from a unique, worldwide network of threat sensors, as well as data from the company’s install base of security gateways, Check Point research, and industry malware feeds, and distributes threat intelligence to security gateways around the globe. With over 250 million addresses analyzed for bot discovery, 4.5 million malware signatures and 300,000 infected sites, Check Point ThreatCloud AI powers new Anti-Bot and enhanced Antivirus Software Blades by feeding threat updates directly to customers’ gateways, enabling them to enforce pre-emptive protection against advanced threats, such as bots, APTs (Advanced Persistent Threats), and other forms of sophisticated malware.

SMARTLOG
With huge volumes of data being logged on a daily basis, Check Point R75.40 also features SmartLog, a next generation log analyzer that helps customers transform data into meaningful security information. With split-second Google-like key word search capabilities, users can quickly search billions of records, identifying log trends and communication patterns across multiple files, users, gateways and geographies. SmartLog is a key feature in Check Point’s leading security management, providing enhanced visibility into log data and potential security risks. It is available to customers with the Logging and Status Software Blade without additional licensing required.

Check Point R75.40 is a free upgrade for customers and includes more than 100 security features, including a firewall rule hit count, Web proxy configuration and DLP watermarking – without requiring additional management or hardware.

“R75.40 continues to build on our vision for 3D Security. From our Software Blade Architecture and powerful line of appliances introduced last year, to our new ThreatCloud AI and cutting-edge unified OS, we’re bringing customers the strong foundation and advanced protections needed to keep their edge in security,” concluded Shwed.

Pricing and Availability
Release R75.40 is a free upgrade for existing customer and pricing for individual software blades begins at $1,500. Release R75.40 and the new Anti-Bot and Antivirus Software Blades are available immediately through Check Point’s worldwide network of value-added resellers.
