Check Point® Software Technologies Ltd. (Nasdaq: CHKP), the worldwide leader in securing the Internet, today announced the company’s participation at V6 World Congress on February 8, 2012. Check Point Fellow, Robert Hinden, will be speaking about the security implications of deploying IPv6, and will take place at 15.30 p.m. at the Marriot Rive Gauche Hotel and Conference Center in Paris, France.
“IPv6 deployment has begun, largely driven by the exhaustion of IPv4 addresses. While IPv6 is similar architecturally with IPv4, it has its own security implications that enterprises need to be aware of,” said Robert Hinden, fellow at Check Point Software Technologies. “In some cases, IPv6 can be used as a covert channel for botnets and hackers, encouraging businesses to educate themselves about how to detect and prevent unauthorized network traffic and deploy IPv6 securely.”
| WHO: | Hinden is a Check Point Fellow, as well as the chair of the IAOC and the IPv6 (6MAN) working group at the Internet Engineering Task Force (IETF). He was also the co-recipient of the 2008 IEEE Internet Award for pioneering work in the development of the first Internet routers. Hinden has worked on the Internet since its early days as a DARPA research project to the current Internet, seeing threats evolve from elementary hacking attempts to the sophisticated and coordinated cybercrime attacks that are widespread today. |
